August 23, 2022Solving the Challenge of Coating Formed Metal
Trying to coat intricate coil shapes has always been challenging, with achieving a uniform coating the biggest obstacle.
Electrocoating is an exceptional solution for protecting HVAC coil units in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry.
At Great Dane, our state-of-the-art electrocoating facility serves the needs of manufacturers producing coils and complex shapes. E-coating is perfect for this application because it is a “wet” process where metal parts are immersed in a bath of paint and epoxy. An electric current is applied to attract the particles to the metal, after which the part is cured in an oven.
By varying the current applied, the part coating thickness can be controlled with amazing precision.
E-Coating Improves Coil Performance
The thin, precision coatings available from e-coating provide both excellent protection and superior heat transfer. You get both the corrosion resistance you need for extended coil life and the heat transfer efficiency necessary for coils to function well in everyday operation.
e-coating delivers a smooth, consistent, durable coating that penetrates deep into all cavities and covers every exposed surface of the heat exchanger, including fin edges— without creating a bridge to adjacent fins.
The benefits of electrocoating (E-coating) include superior corrosion resistance, controllable, uniform film coverage, and the ability to coat complex parts evenly. An added advantage of the E-coat process is its high efficiency. As many parts as can be racked can be coated at once.
At Great Dane Powder Coating, our e-Coating experience includes corrosion resistant coatings for:
- Heat Exchangers
- Refrigeration Coils
- Radiators
- Finned Tube Coils
- Evaporators
- Condenser Coils
- Fans & Blowers
- Air Handling Equipment
- Fabrications & Weldments
High Performance Electrodeposition Coatings
At Great Dane, we use Axalta electrophoretic coatings because they are designed to last longer and perform better. In addition to their amazing durability and anti-corrosion characteristics, Axalta coatings cure fast, and that’s good news for maintaining high quality in large production runs. These products are water based and formulated to ensure superior performance over a variety of substrates, including hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, and magnesium.
Our 6,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art electrocoating facility is ready to get the job done for you. If your traditional provider is unable to keep up or won’t be available when you need them, give us a call at 724-537-9709.
E-Coating is superior to many applied paint materials in coating metal surfaces and has the added benefit of working well with complex coil shapes. We serve the HVAC industry, Manufacturing and Fabrication, Automotive, Appliances, Construction, and more.
When you need it, Great Dane delivers, and with Axalta coil coatings, we deliver the best.
