High Quality Powder Coating

High Quality Powder Coating

Experience, High-Quality Gear, the Expert Touch

At Great Dane Powder Coating in Loyalhanna, PA, we have over 28 years’ experience in the industrial parts coating business. That puts us head and shoulders above many other powder coating shops for delivering quality, reliability, and consistency.

We work with a variety of industries to deliver high-volume orders with ease, giving your production parts a high-end, finished look. Our high-quality powder coats both increase part lifespans and deliver exceptional customer appeal. Let’s look at few of the things that set Great Dane Powder Coating apart from its competition.

Powder Coating Gear

At Great Dane, we use professional OptiFlex powder coating guns. OptiFlex allows us to coat complex geometries with outstanding efficiency and quality. These light-weight, ergonomically designed units provide better in-hand balance and feel, allowing our powder coaters to comfortably position the gun for better coverage and faster coating.

From optimized nozzles to an integrated 100 kV cascade, OptiFlex guns deliver the highest transfer efficiency and simplify the coating of difficult shapes by delivering exceptional precision and penetration.

Quality Control

Our daily process includes quality control checks for each product batch for both film thickness and appearance.

Powder Coating Film Thickness Testing

A film thickness test determines the thickness of the powder on the part once it’s been cured. This is generally confirmed with a Dry Film Thickness gauge.

A common range we look for is 2-3 dry mils (thousandths of an inch). A coating of 2-3 mils usually provides complete coverage of the powder over the metal.

Powder Coating Appearance Evaluation

One of the advantages of powder coating is how good the finished product looks. Our quality assurance manager is actively looking for defects and problems with the powder or the product.

Assuring the right appearance is not just a matter of numbers and measurement; it’s about understanding the customers’ need and goals. Every customer has their own idea (or precise specifications) of an acceptable finish, and it requires both good communication and discussion to determine what’s realistic and measurable.

Optional Quality Control Testing Methods

Additional quality assurance measures available at Great Dane include:

  • Crosshatch Adhesion Text
  • Salt Fog Corrosion Test
  • Crosshatch Adhesion Test

An Experienced Team

Of course, the biggest limitation for any powder coating company is experience. We’re proud of our dedicated team of professional powder coaters. We know that the hand an eye behind the powder coating gun is the most important component in assuring a quality result.

If your current powder coater is working with secondhand or “personal use” equipment, it is likely their training and abilities are spotty too.

At Great Dane Powder Coating, Inc., our powder coating specialists serve the needs of the automotive, motorcycle, and OEM parts industries.  They are trusted by fabrication facilities and manufactures across the country to deliver highly durable coatings on a wide variety of parts and components.
