From surface preparation to delivery, handled in-house
At Great Dane, our Quality and Sales teams work with every customer to capture the details of each project on what we call an ID Sheet. Built to your specifications, it records dimensions, finishes, tolerances, masking points, and special instructions. That sheet then travels with the job. Every operator works from it, through quoting, receiving, pretreatment, coating, inspection, and packaging.
From the moment your order is placed, we manage the sequence for you. Prep, coating, masking, color, labeling, assembly, and packing all happen inside our own plants and on our own schedule. You do not have to juggle multiple vendors, freight legs, or handoffs between them.
Our goal is a turnkey workflow. You ship parts, and we return finished components that are coated, masked, assembled, labeled, and packed to your requirements. That holds whether the job runs through powder coating, e-coating, or both. The result is fewer touchpoints, fewer delays, and a shorter path from our dock to your line.
Custom Cleaning, Surface Prep & Sandblasting
A good finish starts with a clean surface. Oils, rust, mill scale, and shop soil all interfere with adhesion, coverage, and long-term durability. Left in place, they lead to rework, downtime, and coatings that fail in the field. That is true of powder coating and e-coating alike. The quality of your finish is largely set before any coating is applied.
Our team evaluates each part and recommends the right method: ultrasonic cleaning, chemical stripping, sandblasting, or custom etching. Parts headed for the e-coat line then run through an eight-stage zinc phosphate pretreatment before immersion. Where a job calls for an outside process, we work with trusted partners so your parts still arrive at the line ready to coat.

Intricate Masking
Masking protects the areas of a part that have to stay bare. Threads, bearing bores, machined faces, sealing surfaces, grounding points, shafts, and openings all need to come back the way they went in. Coating buildup in those places interferes with fit, movement, and assembly. Our masking work covers powder coating and e-coating alike, and it is one of the capabilities customers come to us for specifically.
We use high-temperature tapes, silicone plugs and caps, die-cut masks, and custom-molded solutions built for repeat production runs. Conductive silicone plugs mask a feature and support the part on the rack at the same time, carrying the charge through the rack. For ferrous parts, we use custom silicone masks with high-temperature magnets molded in. Those masks are rated to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, hold their shape and size, are reusable, and leave no tape residue behind.

Color Selection
At Great Dane Powder Coating, the right color is more than appearance. It signals quality, carries your brand, and keeps a product line looking consistent. That is why we stock a broad selection of high-quality standard colors. Keeping them on hand is what lets us hold lead times short and turnarounds fast.
Looking for something specific? We special-order colors to match an exact brand hue, coordinate with other components, or standardize across product lines. Using color charts and sample panels, we help you land on the right finish, in high gloss, satin, or textured. When you reorder later, we can reproduce the same color again.

Assembly & Kitting
If your finished product requires multiple parts combined into a single unit or kit, Great Dane can help you streamline the last mile. We provide light assembly using standard tools, or the specialized tools and fixtures you supply. Your coated components stay organized and protected, and they reach your line grouped the way you need them.

Packing Services
After parts are coated and cured, and after any assembly and labeling steps, we pack them back onto your skid or into the boxes you provide. To prevent scuffs, dents, and abrasions in transit, our packing team uses protective materials such as foam, cardboard, and paper. A finish that survives the oven should survive the truck.
If your order requires extra documentation or inserts, we can print and include custom instruction sheets, or add printed materials you supply. The goal is simple. Your order arrives protected, complete, and ready for the next step in your process.
